John 13:7Jesus replied, "You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand."

How many times do we question God or wonder why certain situations happen in our lives? Often, when something occurs beyond our control and comprehension—whether it's the loss of a loved one, the end of a relationship, illness, an accident, unemployment, or disappointment—we ask the Lord why, and we struggle to understand.

However, the Bible teaches us that God is always in control. If we make Him the author and finisher of our faith, we can trust and rest in Him. We may not understand what Jesus is doing, but He knows exactly what He’s doing. Later, we will see that everything that happens to us contributes to our growth in faith, love, and knowledge of the Lord. Even when we don’t understand, our character is being shaped as we go through difficulties while trusting and loving God with all our hearts.

Understanding What God is Doing:

  • Trust more! Reflect on past events that helped you grow and depend more on God.

  • Pray and place everything in the Father’s hands—all your questions and doubts. Believe that He knows and controls everything.

  • Jesus is our greatest example. Read the Bible and learn about His love, service, and unconditional sacrifice.

  • Lay all your anxieties and your heart at the foot of the cross. Rest in the peace of Jesus.

  • Believe even before you understand what’s happening.

  • Share your doubts with brothers and sisters in the faith who have more experience, and ask them to pray for you.

To pray:

Lord my God, even though I don’t understand the reason for the turbulence I’m going through, I want to trust more in You and Your Word. Help me believe with all my heart that You hold my life in Your hands. I trust that You are good and faithful, and that You have a steadfast purpose in all things. Give me strength and increase my faith every day. In Jesus’ name, amen.
