God is Our Refuge
You are my God, and I give you thanks; you are my God, and I exalt you. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. (Psalm 118:28-29)
Spiritual Necessity
Just as the body needs physical exercise to stay healthy, our soul needs the presence of God. By cultivating a heart full of gratitude to God, we prepare to receive the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Through praise and prayer, we receive from God His Holy Spirit, which nourishes our soul.
The Benefits of Gratitude
A person grateful to God feels lighter and more willing, just like those who practice physical exercise. Those who do not engage in any activity tend to feel unmotivated and discouraged. The same happens with those who do not have a grateful heart toward God: they are attacked by low self-esteem and lack perspective.
The Opportunity to Start Anew
But there is always an opportunity to start again, and God is always willing to offer it. He is merciful and wants to do the best in us. Be encouraged, practice exercises, not only physical but more of the Spirit. Praise God and have a light mind and a willing heart.
Exercise Your Soul
Remember all that God has already done in your life. Remembering what He has done fills us with hope and gratitude.
Use your mouth to praise God. Express words that bless the Lord. By praising Him, our hearts are filled with the Holy Spirit.
Make sure that everything you do for the Lord comes from a light heart that expects nothing in return. God is pleased with those who worship Him simply out of love. The love He has for us is much greater; you can be at peace.
To Pray
Lord, it is so good to say your name! You are wonderful. My heart fills with peace and calm when I think of your love. Perfect and proven love. Thank you so much for placing me in your courts; your Word guides me. I love you, God! Amen.
