May your mouth be a channel of blessing.

Let no obscene word come out of your mouth, but only what is good for edification, as needed, so that it may impart grace to those who hear. (Ephesians 4:29)

Our mouth is an important instrument for carrying the word of salvation. That is precisely why we must measure what we speak and think about whether our mouth is a channel of blessing or curse.

With our tongue, we can heal or wound. It is up to us to choose what we extend with our mouth. Aware of this responsibility, we must control our mouth so that we say what we truly mean. The Bible can help us develop self-control. And the Bible, in addition to being a source of wisdom, contains words that heal and save.

When we feed on the Word of God, we begin to speak what is in our hearts. Even more, we begin to behave according to the Word, so our actions speak for themselves, not just our words. May your mouth be a channel of blessing!

Be a channel of blessing:

  • Avoid talking too much; think before you speak. Choosing what we are going to say helps us act wisely.

  • Forget "constructive criticism." Speak words that uplift your brother. To build, it is not necessary to criticize, but it can help to point out solutions.

  • The Bible is the greatest source of wisdom you can find. Whoever feeds on its words is a channel of blessing.

To pray:

Lord, make me an instrument in Your hands. Use my mouth as a channel for Your good news. From You, I receive blessings. May I share Your love and favor with my mouth. Amen.
