"Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean! Remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes; cease to do evil. Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, and plead the widow's cause." (Isaiah 1:16-17)
In today's reflection, we are invited to adopt many attitudes that lead us to live closer to the Lord and His principles, while at the same time distancing ourselves from sin.
1.Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean: Our corrupt nature is stained with sin. Fortunately, we have a Savior who purifies us; Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
2.Remove the evil deeds: This is an intentional attitude that every convert should adopt: to act without malice, deceit, injustice, or corruption.
3.Cease to do evil: The practical application is to stop and abandon harmful behaviors, seeking transformation through repentance. We must distance ourselves from sinful practices or those that lead to error and wrongdoing.
4.Learn to do good: Here, the instruction is to act with justice and compassion. Do what is right and good. Observe and imitate good examples. Seek opportunities to do good works and show love to others.
5.Seek justice: God warns us several times in His Word about the necessity of seeking His Kingdom and His Justice. We need to defend justice and act justly in all situations.
6.Rebuke the oppressor: Do not tolerate oppression and confront those who oppress others.
7.Ensure and defend the rights of orphans and widows: Defend the rights of vulnerable people, such as orphans, widows, and others in need, ensuring they are treated justly, showing them love, compassion, and care.
There are many challenges, but in all of them, we can count on the help of our God!
To pray:
Lord God, You are the God of all goodness, justice, and righteousness! Help me to live in a way that pleases You. Father, wash me in the precious blood of Christ and purify my life from all evil. Give me strength to reject sin and not do evil. Teach me to do good correctly. Give me courage to seek Your justice and not to agree with the oppressors of this world. Help me to love and assist the most needy, to show Your love through my life. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen!
