It is good to choose to do good.

2 Thessalonians 3:13 - "Brothers, do not grow weary in doing good."

When a doctor advises us to exercise, it may initially seem unappealing. Getting out of inertia requires effort and sweat. But once we begin exercising, we start to see the first benefits: our energy improves, and our self-esteem strengthens. The same happens with doing good. It may sound like a cliché, but when we practice doing good, we receive benefits from God in every area of our lives. When we make an effort to do good, we not only help others but also cultivate the fruit of the Spirit in ourselves: love, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).

Remember, doing good may require effort, but it is the best choice we can make.

Do not grow weary in doing good.

  • Just like exercising, it is important to be well-nourished. Feed yourself with the Word of God and practice doing good freely.

  • After practicing good, resistance may arise. Keep doing what is right, and that opposition will not prevail.

  • If obstacles come, ask God for help. Ask Him to soften your heart. God is love!

To pray:

Lord, put in me a kind heart willing to do good. I want to make an effort to do Your will. Help me do what is right. In Jesus' name, Amen.
