Increasing Intimacy with God

For me, the good is to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge to recount all His works. (Psalm 73:28)

Our God is alive and desires to have a relationship with us. He wants to hear our voice, to be worshiped and loved by us. In the same way, God desires to bless us with a prosperous future. A relationship is a two-way path: to love and be loved. It is necessary for us to take the initiative, for God has already shown us His love. To trust fully in God's power is a sign of intimacy. When we truly believe, we have no fear of sharing our feelings with Him. Drawing near to God gives us security even when we find ourselves in stormy days. Intimacy comes with trust and results in more faith and works.

Take the initiative

• Seek God with all your heart (Jeremiah 29:13). Put the Gospel into practice.

• Seek the presence of the Lord in prayer. Ask for God's response to your desires.

• Learn to discern (Job 34:4). Be attentive to the small signs.

• Dedicate a part of your day to pray and meditate. Try to be consistent.

Prayer:

Lord God, I want to be close to You. Your love is endless, and Your mercy endures forever. Hear my voice, please, and speak to my heart. In Jesus' name, Amen.
