In love, there is no fear

In love, there is no fear, but perfect love casts out fear. He who fears has not been perfected in love. (1 John 4:17b-18)

If we truly love God, why do we still have fear? Love casts out fear and draws us closer to God. He is our safe refuge, and nothing can overpower Him. The one who loves God and follows His ways has nothing to fear. The only thing that can separate us from God is sin. Sin brings guilt, and guilt precedes punishment. Therefore, the best way to cast out fear is by turning away from sin. Walking with God gives us courage! When we are in His presence, we feel secure and confident in His power. Perfect yourself in God’s love and feel safe. Remove fear from your life and experience the peace that surpasses all understanding. (Philippians 4:6-7)

Cast out fear

• Increase your intimacy with God. Seek Him through prayer.

• Tell God about your fears. Open your heart before Him.

• Read God's Word. It helps us draw closer to God and dispels fear.

Lord God, You are powerful, and in You, I find security. Guard my heart. Light my path so I can experience Your love each day. In Jesus' name, amen.
