"The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine," says the Lord of hosts. (Haggai 2:8)
This verse reminds us that everything that exists, whether material or spiritual, belongs to God. Silver and gold, which are symbols of wealth and value, are under His control. We must understand that God is the true owner of all things, and what we consider our possessions are not something we have achieved on our own.
When we understand that God is the true owner of everything, we learn to trust Him more and to live with greater humility. Our wealth and possessions are temporary and are under God's care. In His goodness, He provides us with what we need, and it is to Him that we should be grateful. This truth also calls us to manage well what we have, as we are merely stewards of the blessings God gives us.
Thus, this verse reminds us that true security is not in money or material goods, but in God. He is the owner of all things and the one who sustains us at all times.
Remember that everything belongs to God:
Acknowledge that your possessions are temporary gifts from God.
Trust in God, more than in wealth: Your security is in God, not in material things that can disappear.
Be a good steward of what you have: Use your possessions wisely, always seeking to honor God in your decisions.
Prayer:
Lord, we acknowledge that everything belongs to You. Help us trust You more than our riches, and to manage well what You give us. May our attitude toward money and our decisions honor Your name, always remembering that You are the source of all provision. Amen.
