God is sun and shield.

The Lord is sun and shield; God grants us honor and glory. The Lord generously bestows his goodness on those who walk blamelessly.-- Psalm 84:11

Can you imagine what it would be like to live without seeing the sun every day? It would be difficult, wouldn’t it? Even though we know the sun shines nonstop, there are days when clouds or location prevent us from seeing its light. This is the situation for people living in some parts of the world where this beautiful creation remains hidden for several months of the year. But when it appears, everyone delights in the light, warmth, and well-being that the sun provides.

God is like the sun for his people: He illuminates, gives life, encouragement, and joy. Even when everything around us is dark, God remains the glorious light that comforts the soul and fervently protects those who trust in Him.

During the Exodus, while Israel wandered through the desert, God was like a lantern during the nights, a pillar of fire that warmed, shone, and guided their steps in the midst of darkness. During the scorching days, the Lord was a protective cloud, a shield that guarded and cared for His people. So it is in your life: God is your sun and your shield! He illuminates, sustains, and protects you, and He grants you His infinite grace every day.

Receive the light and protection of the Lord:

• God dissipates the darkness in your heart. Trust and seek His light every day.

• Pray and surrender your fears, uncertainties, and worries to the Lord. He grants you grace in the cold and dark days of life.

• Do not doubt! Even if you see only dark clouds and storms, the sun of righteousness has not stopped shining. He will give you grace and glory to overcome difficulties. Believe it!

• God is a refuge, He is a strong shield, your safe harbor. Seek Him and cry out to Him. He does not withhold good from those who walk in His way.

• In the presence of God, we have real light; all darkness fades away. All sadness, sin, anguish, and despair give way to glory, peace, rest, and the Father’s protection. Stay close to Him.

To pray:

Lord God, how could I doubt You? Even when everything seems like night, even when I cannot see sunny days, help me to trust that You remain God, that You are faithful, and still have control over everything. Grant Your grace, my Lord, and illuminate my steps. Protect me and gladden my heart in the midst of these difficult times. Thank You for caring for me even when I feel weak. I want to seek You no matter the circumstances and walk in Your presence every day. I thank You for everything. In Jesus' name, amen.
