Deuteronomy 30:20"Love the Lord your God, obey Him, and be faithful to Him, for your life depends on Him, and you will live a long time in the land He swore to give your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob."
Our life, longevity, and well-being depend on one thing: obedience to God. This is the cost of living in the presence of Jesus. We must remember that our relationship with God is based on love and commitment to His will. When we refuse to obey Him, we endanger everything that is most important in life.
This was also the cost of living in the Promised Land: obeying the Lord. No matter how strict they thought the law was or how many rules there seemed to be, the commandments were given to protect and guide people along the right path.
Similarly, in our lives, God's commandments are good; they guide us and are for our benefit. They allow us to live in God's presence and in peace with one another. The blessed life that God wants to give us is linked to the obedience we show Him in love.
The benefits of obedience are great.
Pray and ask God for forgiveness if you have been disobedient to His Word.
Meditate on this: "To obey is better than sacrifice" (1 Samuel 15:22).
Obedience is a personal decision. Make sure you are not following bad examples or the influence of the disobedient.
God does not want what is bad for you. On the contrary, obedience to what He commands will be the best for you.
"It is necessary to obey God rather than men!" (Acts 5:29). Keep your priorities clear.
For Prayer:
Lord God, help me to obey You in all things, no matter the cost. Forgive me if I am selective, choosing which areas of my life I will obey You in. I need to be honest and fully faithful to Your Word. Help me to cling to You, for my entire life depends on You. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray and thank You. Amen!
