God cares for the helpless

For you have been, in their distress, a bulwark for the helpless, a refuge for the needy, a shelter against the storm, a shade against the heat. But the breath of the cruel is like a storm against a wall, like heat in the desert. You quell the tumult of strangers, as one quells the heat under the shadow of a cloud, and drowns the racket of tyrants.

We live in a world where the law of the strongest rules. The weakest are marginalized, pushed aside and forgotten. But God goes against the current of the world and protects those most in need. God's strength is seen more clearly in contrast to beings as fragile and dependent as we are, for his power is perfected in our weakness. The care and love of the heavenly Father extends and reaches even to the most forgotten of men....

In today's text we read that God shows concern for the poor, is a refuge for the needy and brings relief to their sufferings. Perhaps this is your present condition: you feel that you are living in the midst of a storm or a desert. Remember that the Lord Jesus is available to help you. In Psalm 146:9 we also see that “the Lord protects the stranger and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but thwarts the plans of the wicked.” Surrender to him and trust him with all your heart.

Believe and receive God's grace:

• Pray and present your situation before God - He cares for you!

• Trust and walk with the Lord. Read the Bible every day, try to know more about God and His plans for your life.

• Do not despair. When all seems lost, seek the Lord Jesus.

• Seek help: God's provision and help can come into your life in many ways.

• Be thankful. Even if it is little, be thankful for what you have.

  The Bible teaches us not to complain and to give thanks in everything.

• Love the needy. Maybe today you have enough to share. As Christians, we should be attentive to the needs of others. Try to help someone today.

To pray:

Lord my God, help me! You, Lord, know my situation and the needs I have been through. Above all things I need you in my life. I present my cause to you, Lord, knowing that you are the righteous Judge who cares for all who have needs and trust in you. You are the provider God of all the earth, help me and all who are in need. Take care of the poor, the orphan, the hungry, the imprisoned, the outcast, the foreigner and the physically weak. I thank you for your love and care. In Jesus' name, amen.
